Church Services

Sundays
We have a choice of services on a Sunday and all are welcome. We are still taking a cautious approach but the freedom is there for individuals to choose where they sit and whether to wear a mask or not. We encourage the wearing of masks while we sing.

Live Stream - For those who cannot come in person the 10.00am service will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel HTSVICAR. The following link will take you directly there

8:00am Book of Common Prayer Communion
This service will be held on the first Sunday of every month.  It begins our day of worship and is held in the choir stalls at Holy Trinity. Using the 1662 prayer book communion service first written by Thomas Cranmer in 1548, this quiet service lasts between 30 and 35 minutes. A short homily of 5 minutes explores the scriptures used for the day. We have printed a new service booklet that allows those unfamiliar with this pattern of service to easily follow and take part. All are welcome to experience worship that has been held in this way (with only minor revision in 1662!!) for well over 450 years.

10:00am Holy Communion using Common Worship
The liturgy that shapes this service was first introduced in the year 2000. It echoes many aspects of the prayer book service, but includes 8 versions of the Eucharistic prayer; these are the prayers used as the bread and wine are consecrated for communion. All liturgy and hymn words are displayed on a screen. A short sermon explores the scriptures used for the day. We shall also be offering sung worship choosing music from the hymn book that best suits our service and season. Held every Sunday in the nave of the church, this service will last approximately an hour.

6:00pm Sunday at Six (starting 7th November)
This will be a service of intergenerational worship that includes more modern worship songs, (led by the band) discussion, innovative ways of sharing prayer, learning from each other and celebrating what God is doing in our lives. It's interactive and relational and will involve sharing refreshments. It will be like the Café Church service we used to have at 10.30am but developed further to engage more fully with our faith. This service will last approximately an hour and will run during term time.

Our standard Sunday services run throughout the year (except the 8 am service which is once a month). Sometimes they change times, particularly around Christmas, Easter and the summer holidays.  Please always check the 'Calendar' section to confirm timings.

Wednesdays
Every Wednesday we are operating our Café between 9.45am and 11.45am and it has been wonderful to re-connect with so many people; do come along if you are free. This is followed by a service of Holy Communion at Midday held in the Lady Chapel which last half an hour.
